This osprey and bald eagle were dive bombing each other all Spring. Their nesting/hunting territories overlapped, which made for some great interaction shots.

No, this Belted Kingfisher wasn't ice fishing. The Boise River was free of ice. It was just a cold snowy place to be.

Great Grey Owls are incredibly photogenic and tolerant of photographers, once you find them.

It's not widely know, but the movie industry often dubs in a red-tailed hawk scream in shots of bald eagles because they sound much more threatening.

This Mule Deer fed for about an hour while I sat quietly watching.

It's the reflection of this Mallard drake that caught my eye of this very common bird in a variety of U.S. regions.

It's hard to tell by this image, but this Black Bear was actually about six feet off the ground while laying on tree limbs feeding on berries.

Great Blue Herons can stand incredibly still for long periods of time. This was required for a slow shutter speed due to the low light situation. The result was the birds still pose surrounded by the blurred whitewater.

Great Blue Heron & the Rock

The snow beneath this Great Grey Owl lights up the underside of the bird's wings and tail beautifully. Along with its piercing eyes contrast nicely with the dark background in this photo.

The blue plumage of this Great Blue Heron is set off nicely by the golden brown reeds in the background. Being perched was an added bonus.

This cow moose was more worried or curious about something off in the woods than she was me.

No, this American Coot wasn't swimming in a pond of chocolate milk. Although it sure looks that way to me.

Capturing this image of a Hairy Woodpecker was a "being in the right place at the right time" thing. Especially, catching the flying wood chips at it was creating this nesting cavity.

Canada Geese are pretty common in many parts of the U.S. So, I've had ample opportunities to get take-off shots.
